Atlas
The Atlas moth on this clock is actual size - they're one of the largest in the world.
My first encounter with a large moth was when I was about sixteen, tinkering with my motorbike I’d somehow managed to rebuild. A Hawk moth landed on my handlebars and made me jump; it was unlike any living thing I’d ever seen close-up before – I was mesmerised.
It sparked a personal fascination for insects, I learned the lifecycles, anatomical names, habits, interesting facts that have since faded into frustrating exclamations on family walks: ‘Oooo, this is the…….’.
A spectacular form of nature, living in a world where the background is always changing but its wings remain the same, forever symmetrical...or are they...?
- Limited Edition- I will only make up to 25 of this particular clock. - Each ‘Limited Edition’ clock is numbered; 25 will be the last in the series.
- Clock Specifications- Approximately 348mm wide by 328mm tall. - UV printed on the back of 8mm clear acrylic. - The clock mechanism is very quiet (but not truly silent) with a sweeping second hand. It is battery driven and requires 1 AA battery (included). - The clock has a hanging hole at the back for you to hang it on a hook or nail.
- UV Print- Utilising some of the most up-to-date printing technology in the world, Ultraviolet (UV) printing is a technique using special curing ink. Directly after being sprayed onto the reverse of the acrylic, the ink is hardened with UV light. - This production method offers high quality print, is fade and scratch resistant, and the finished print will have a more durable surface than a solvent based printing process. - UV printers are also more environmentally friendly when compared to other types of printer.
- Packaging- All the packaging is compostable: the box; void filler (a starch-based material that dissolves harmlessly in water); packaging tape; paper clock face protector and clock hands guard - the card and paper are also suitable for putting in your recycle bin.
